12.22.18 I watched this movie for the first time this morning.  It truly touched my heart, seeing an atheist turn to God due the faithful prayers of his ex-wife. God never turned his back on him.  Even when he made a career of saying there is no God, there is only humanity, therefore you can do whatever you want because there is no life after death and no consequences.

This is what a $1000 Christmas Tree looks like

My daughter and her family went on a Christmas tree cutting outing.  It started out well enough and then turned into an expensive adventure.  This is what a $1000.00 tree looks like!

Journaling:

Yesterday’s quest to cut a Christmas tree down turned out to be a bigger adventure than we thought it would be.

On the path to find our most perfect tree, we found a great place to stretch our legs, have a snowball fight, make snow angels, and watch the dog dig and frolic in the snow. It was a perfect start to our quest.

Once we had our fun in the snow, we continued up the mountain. However, instead of finding a perfect tree, we found a perfect spot to get our truck stuck in the snow. There was no one around to help, but it was a miracle that we had cell service and were able to call the forest ranger, who then called the sherif, who then called a tow truck to come get us. 4 hours later, we were tired, hungry, thirsty, and RESCUED! Thank the Lord for cell phones, GPS and His angels!

After all that, I was NOT going home without a tree! We found the most hopeless tree around us to love on to remind us to CUT NEXT YEARS TREE AT COSTCO!!!

When I saw this paper in the Oscraps Merry and Bright download it just spoke to me and I just had to use it.  At first I thought I would use some thought or quote about light and it drawing us back home, but ended up with what I used on this card.  Perfect quote for the perfect background.

I love playing with blending and opacity, most of my layouts have a little bit of both techniques.  I had used the same technique for a layout I did this Summer and wondered what it would look like as a Christmas theme.  I think it turned out awesome, just love it.

Grinch Pancakes

We were on our way up to Scotts Valley to see Lucas play in his final Soccor game of the season, but due to poor air quality it was cancelled last minute.  Since we were on our way anyway we decided to go eat at IHOP so the boys could have Grinch pancakes.  They were wanting to do that ever since they saw the new Grinch movie.  All in all a good morning visiting with the kids.

I don't fit in anymore

I usually don't post negative stuff on this blog, but I needed an outlet to write down my feelings.  The .last couple of months I've been feeling like I don't fit in anywhere in the scrapping world.

Since coming back from vacation and creating my photo book of our trip, I fell in love with the clean minimalist style and wanted to give it a try.  I found a site that the scrappers are really good at putting together those types of layouts, I immersed myself there, did the challenges, tried to learn what makes a layout work. 

I guess I now feel stuck between the two styles of artsy verses clean and just can't get back on track.  Most of the layouts I'm creating now just aren't up to my idea of a good layout.  In fact one of the layouts I posted here just last week I decided to delete since it was so bad.

I've decided to not do as many of the challenges, they have seemed to be the cataylist for the poor layouts.  Most people embrace them and grow in their art, but I seem to be going backwards and not creating what I want to create.  I'm going back to what I do best and showcase the grandkids, express my feelings and thoughts. creating memories for my family to enjoy!
