ArtPlay Bask (Edge Transfer)
http://www.oscraps.com/shop/product.php?productid=30884&page=1

Process:  I placed a background paper and placed my photo over it.  I enlarged the photo to cover the whole page, but I wanted some of the paper to show through, so under the photo I created a mask and clipped the photo to it.  I started to erase some more of the mask, like under the waves to bring in some of the blue color of the paper.  I added a frame and a second photo and used my color balance to add more blue to the photo, so it would blend in with the page so far.  I placed various transfers to add some texture and color fluctuations.  Added the stained Edge overlay and clipped one of the solid papers to it, duplicated the paper layer and used multiply to darken it a bit.  Added wordart and created a lable using Liny’s tutorial, which you can find on Anna’s blog http://annaaspnes.typepad.com/anna/2014/06/tutorial-wordart.html

Finished off by adding some bokeh to make it feel like the water was sparkling from the sun hitting it and another edge overlay.

Trinity Alps

2006 Camping trip.  I'm NOT an outdoors person at all, but even I had to appreciate the view.

Process:  Placed background papier, decided where I wanted to place my photo, added Watercolor FotoBlendz behind photo.  Tweaked colors a bit using my adjustment curve filter and using blend mode color burn and turning down the opacity to about 33%.  Added frame and elements.  I decided I wanted to extend the water of the lake down a bit so I added the mélange texture and filled it with the color of the lake just a bit darker.  Added strokes and splatters to finish it off.

All about Me

Anna Aspnes wanted to highlight her CT's so I created not one but two layouts.  I couldn't make up my mind which one I wanted to submit.  So you get to see both of them.

My name is Fran and I live in San Jose, CA with my husband of 13 years.  Between the two of us, we have 5 children, all grown, and 9 grandchildren.  I am a Payroll Technician by day and scrapper by night.

Most of my life I’ve done some sort of arts and crafts projects. I started paper scrapping about 9 years ago because I wanted to surprise my stepson with an album of the school plays he performed while in High School.  I was looking for some ideas for scrapping his pages I came across some online scrapping sites. *Oh wow, you mean I can do this digitally and not have to worry about cleaning up the mess!*  I was hooked from the very beginning.

I already had PSP8 on my computer and loved to play with it, and with the help of some online tutorials, I learned how to put my PSP to work to create some digital layouts. So here I am 9 years later, now upgraded to Photoshop CS5, still playing and loving it.

Anna’s products are so inspiring to me. She does all the creating so I don't have to! I think my favorite aA product are the FotoBlendz clipping masks.  I use one of them almost every time I create a layout…

My favorite all time movie is the Time Machine. When I first saw it as a young girl it shaped my love of time and travel stories. I also love to read. My current read is the Divergent series.

My favorite quote comes from Mother Teresa, “We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”  It’s a reminder to me no matter who you are you are worth something, YOU make  a difference.

Process:  Masked out photo, add papier to top of layout, selected portion to delete – added bevel to the edge to get it look like a mat.  I added text on a path and typed in the love is quote from the bible.  I finished off with brushes and splatters.

Cotton

I used to live in the central valley in California, one of the major crops grown there is cotton.  I loved when the cotton plants began to show the cotton bolls, it looked like a field of snow.

AnnaBlendz 3 Blending with brushes
http://www.oscraps.com/shop/product.php?productid=10008857&cat=383&page=1

Process: Used as my base (background) Upcycled ARTPaperie No 5_4, then added a FotoBlendz clipping mask and placed it in the black area of the background paper, I used Anna’s tips on her Blending with Brushes 3 video to adapt my clipping mask to fit the area.  Clipped my cotton photo to it, duplicated photo and placed it behind the mask, used a sketch technique, then blending mode multiply and lowered the opacity.  Added some elements and recolored them by using my color balance adjustment layer ( I like using the adjustments in the layer panel, because I can go back and tweak them if necessary.).  Added various splats, transfers and brush work.  For the finishing touch I found the cotton logo on the internet, extracted it by using my paint bucket with mode set on clear to erase the black.  This works well if you only have the two colors to work with, in this case the logo was in white and the background Black, so this worked well to extract what I needed.  I then added the text “The fabric of our lives” and called it done.
