BE AT PEACE...

Melitta Wittich Diaz - Born August 9, 1930 - Died January 16, 2013

 What can I say about Mama? She was a strong woman and fighter.

She had been battling with her lung issues for a few years now. Last year it went critical and we almost lost her then. But she surprised everyone and got her strength back…..I wrote this on my blog in June of last year.

“We had both our mothers in the hospital in critical condition off and on since December. Since then we've taken trips to see my mother at least once a month to spend time with her and make sure she's doing okay. She has made giant strides since December and getting better every time we see her. She went from being on life support and not being able to walk, to walking a few steps with help, to almost being able to run around the house on her own....no not really, but almost....I'm so proud of her, she is such a fighter. She is still on oxygen and will be from now on, but she wakes up each day and counts her blessings, treasuring each and every moment she has left.”

We saw her the week before Christmas and she was in high spirits, looking forward to my sister and her great grandchildren spending Christmas with her. New Years came and she took a turn for the worse, having to be hospitalized once more. This time she didn’t come through it.

On her last weekend with us, we spent some time praying with her and for her. She found peace at last with her Creator, and that thought is what makes us get through the experience of losing our mom.

 It’s goodbye for now, until we see you again…

Love
Fran

I found this prayer on the internet and felt comfort in reading it….

 “To Those I Love And To Those Who Love Me”

When I am gone,
Release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears;
Be happy we had so many years.
I give you my love,
You can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love
You have shown me;
But now it’s time I travel alone.
So grieve a while for me,
If grieve you must.
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It’s only for a while that we must part,
So bless the memories within your heart.
I won’t be far away for life goes on.
So if you need me,
Call me and I will be near.
And if you listen with your heart,
You’ll hear
All my love around you,
Soft and clear.
And when you must come this way along,
I’ll greet you with a Smile,
And “Welcome Home”.
