I blended the picture with the purple paper, used one of the overlays to add some grunge and texture to the page.  Added the lineart and elements to finish it up.

Home Invasion

03.22.18 - I don't really have the words to say how I'm feeling after coming home this last week to find our house had been ransacked and robbed.  Mostly feeling betrayed, vulnerable and angry! They not only took things, they took a bit of us along with them.

5 Second Rule

Today at Lucas's birthday party Roxi (Lucas' mom) told us about how the first cake she made just fell apart and she had to throw it out.  She went to the store to get another cake mix or two to make a new one.  When she returned she found the boys, Lucas and Eli getting pieces of the original cake out of the trash (I'm hoping it was the only thing in there) and eating pieces of it.  This made her recall another story about Lucas, which is what this layout is all about.  They had been at a Santa Cruz Warrior basketball game.  She had bought him some dipping dots and on the way back thier seats he dropped them.  Below is the conversation that took place while he was trying to scoop up the dots from the ground.

Imagine Lucas crying uncontrollably because the dots were now on the ground.

Mom saying while Lucas is trying to pick up the dots "no Lucas don't do that, it's dirty!"
Lucas still crying and between sobs saying to her " Haaaave you (sob sob) ever heard of the 5 SECOND rule?????"

As I'm writing this I'm laughing out loud,  I don't know what the outcome of that night was, but knowing Lucas I bet he had all that scooped up in less than 5 seconds and enjoyed every bite.....Yuck!!!!!!

Anna Color Challenge 03.2.18-3.15.18

I actually used the color swatch that Adryane provided and added one more color (white).  I created the vertical shape by using the rectangle shape tool and filled in each one with a color from the swatch.  I then reduced the opacity to various degrees.  I placed my photo behind the shapes and used the gradient map to make the color of the photo pop a bit more and show through the vertical shapes a bit better.  I then added a new layout and used the gradient fill going horizontal with the darker blue color being the base and fading out to clear opacity.  I did reduce the opacity so the blue would be subtle on the photo.

Next I created the triangle shapes and played with the opacity as well as making some of them chevrons.  I filled these with white and lowered the opacity.  I duplicated the triangles and made them 100 opacity and reduced the size a bit so the lower triangles would show.  I clipped one of the papers from Anna's Evanscent artplay palette, because I liked the texture of it.

I finished off with a cluster of flowers and wordart.  So not only did I use the color pallet, but I combined a modern minimalist design with a more feminine soft feel (flowers), trying to go beyond my normal type of layout.

Thank you Anna for the push to do something different.
